If it hadn't been for Perc Westmore, Hollywood just wouldn't be the same. Movie makers wouldn't be able to make you believe in a man's age or character - at least not so easily and convincingly as they can because of Perc.

So why is Perc Westmore responsible? Because while working for Max Factor this famed make-up artist (for 343 movies and TV shows) invented a lace-front hair  piece that was virtually undetectable.

The materials used to make hair systems have changed over the years but movie-quality hair pieces are still the most undetectable in the world and of course it's what we make at Hollywood Hair. So the next time you see a great looking hair system on Sean Connery, Bruce Willis or John Malkovich, you can thank Perc!

Edward G. Robinson was a client of Max Factor and this is the picture on display at the Max Factor Museum. Notice the use of the natural recession in his hair piece that adds just the right touch for his age and the types of roles he played.

Factor made hair systems for hundreds of movies and TV shows over the years. These are pictures of a couple you'll definitely remember.

In the early days they used to put the metal contraption you see pictured here on your head and take a multitude of measurements. Then wood carvers would carve teak blocks to shape of a star's head. Today we can be more precise using a plaster mold of an individual's bald or thinning area to make a mans hair piece.

Lucille Ball was also a client of Max Factor. Josephine Turner, a Mexican immigrant who started work for Max Factor in 1927, made Lucy's hair pieces for over 50 years. Josephine worked until she was 90 years old a few blocks from our office in North Hollywood. This legend of our industry passed away in 2003.

George Burns, Frank Sinatra, John Wayne, Jimmy Steward, Humphrey Bogart, Bing Crosby and hundreds of other actors all wore hair systems. Think about it - would John Wayne have been the 'Duke' without his hairpiece? Or Humphrey Bogart have been 'Bogie' without his?

This custom hair system is one of many that were created for newly paroled hero Cameron Poe (portrayed by Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage) in Touchstone Pictures' 1997 action-adventure 'Con-Air'.
